Fero & Sons Insurance

Awarded for Excellence

Fero & Sons Ins.

The Agency Excellence Award for 2009 was presented to Fero & Sons Insurance last week at Allstate’s Agents Kick-Off Meeting held in Orlando, Florida. The meeting was attended by Independent Agents throughout the State of Florida.

Just prior to the award ceremony, Tracy Fero, a fourth generation “Fero” in the family business, participated in a “peer” panel presentation to all of the attendees. Tracy’s presentation consisted of recommendations to other Independent Agents of proficient work flow procedures.

Louis I. Fero started the Fero family in the Insurance business in 1919 in Brooklyn, New York. His son, Dan Fero, moved to Dunnellon in 1954 and started a small agency. Now celebrating 56 years of personal service, Fero & Sons Insurance has grown to offer personal and commercial lines through approximately 100 companies at three locations including Dunnellon, Ocala and Beverly Hills.

If you would like additional information on the Award or how to obtain a complimentary quote for insurance coverage, please contact Tracy Fero (352) 489-2412 or via email at tfero@feroinsurance.com

Seniors Succeed n Tasty Business Endeavors

Marie Buchman, better known as Grandma Rie, is a 74 year old Italian grandmother and entrepreneur.  Marie started baking biscotti when she was 10 years old.   All her life, she made biscotti, and gave it away.
Grand Ma Rie
Marie and her husband, Ralph, moved to Rainbow Springs in 2004.  Ralph is a retired CPA and was enjoying spending his retirement playing golf five to six times a week.  Marie meanwhile was getting bored and needed something to occupy her time.  Her knowledge of cooking and baking gave her the idea to start a local cooking club.  The club was a big hit and Marie also found herself soon writing a popular cooking column for the Riverland News.

One day, while baking with her grandchildren, her daughter-in-law said “Marie, you have to stop giving away that Bodacious Biscotti”.  That is when Grandma Rie got the idea and the name.  Ralph came home from playing golf and Marie said to him “We are going into business.”    Ralph knew there was no stopping her and he was  excited about the new endeavor. more.....
