  APPLICATIONS NOW ACCEPTED FOR TITLE ONE VPK PROGRAM

 MARION COUNTY – Applications of interest are now being accepted for the Pre- K/VPK (Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten) program operated by the Title One Office of Marion County Public Schools.  This full-day program takes place during the normal 2010-2011 school year and is not related to summertime VPK programs.

Applications are available at the Title One office, at www.marion.k12.fl.us/dept/fep/index.cfm, and at the following 10 elementary schools likely to participate in 2010-2011:  Anthony, College Park, East Marion, Evergreen, Fessenden, Fort McCoy, Oakcrest, Reddick-Collier, Sparr, and Stanton-Weirsdale. 

This program is widely popular but has limited seating. To be eligible, children must be four years old on or before September 1, 2010, and live within the attendance zone of their participating school.  Transportation is provided for students accepted into the program who meet transportation eligibility requirements.

 

Admission is based on a random selection of applications submitted or postmarked by the 5PM, March 19th, 2010 deadline.  The parents/guardians of students accepted into this regular school-year program will be notified via telephone starting March 25th, 2010.  Those not accepted will be placed on a waiting list in the order in which their names were drawn and notified in a letter from the Title One Office.
