Take a step back in time and stroll the oak lined streets in Dunnellon's nationally registerd historic district enjoying the many quaint shops and restaurants it has to offer. Many of these shops are located in restored nineteenth century homes and the shop hospitality is as welcoming as the town itself.
Dunnellon was founded in 1889 with the discovery of phospate in the area. The booming town soon developed a rail road, school, post office and electric lights. Each year the Dunnellon Area Chamber of Commerce sponsors the towns celebration of its early beginnings with Boomtown Days.
Whether you are looking for a day of leasurely shopping or are looking for that something special, the Historic Village Shops of Dunnellon are sure to make you want to come back for more. There is always a new experience to have with its many events and places to expplore. One thing is for sure..you will leave with a warm feeling of nastalgia and imagining the days of the past.
GREEN MARKET

Dunnellon’s Green Market is planning ahead for cooler weather and shorter days. While it will remain EVERY Tuesday, beginning November 17 the time will change to 12 noon to 4 pm.Until then, the market continues 2 to 6 pm. Once spring hits, hours may change back but will be 12 noon to 4 pm through the winter.
Green Market happens on the corner of Walnut and Cedar Streets in Dunnellon’s Historic Village as local farmers, fishermen and bakers show up to sell their wares. In addition to produce and baked goods you’ll sometimes find local honey and jellies, worm castings (natural fertilizer for your lawn), beautiful plants, homemade soaps, lotions, body butter, candles & scrubs. Also organic pet treats and hot food (ribs, green beans and collard greens, fresh baked pies) to go. Now through May 15 one of our seafood vendors is offering stone crab claws in addition to their smoked mullet dips, low country boil and more. A new vendor, Snack Attack, just joined us Nov. 3 with locally made Bodicious Biscotti, gluten free baked veggie chips, Pappardelle’ Pasta and Muffaletta Olive Salad. Fresh shelled pecans from Chiefland are “in the market” just in time for holiday baking.
